A controller let a jet take off after missing warnings that Marine One was about to fly through the area, according to the National Transportation Safety Board.
A passenger jet came within a mile of Marine One in early August, after an air traffic controller at Ronald Reagan National Airport appeared to have missed multiple warnings.
The two controllers are among a dozen that the Federal Aviation Administration has taken steps to fire as part of an inquiry into timecard fraud, according to people familiar with the matter.
