The incident had brought the streets of the crowded area to a halt on Monday as emergency vehicles swarmed between the skyscrapers.

Peekaboo island: the floating forest confounding nature watchers in western Canada

A 150-metre-long island appeared from nowhere on Williston Lake, British Columbia; vanished, then reappeared 20 miles away

A thickly forested island appeared mysteriously on a western Canadian lake. Nearly 150 metres (500 feet) long and 75 metres (250 feet) wide, the land mass took local people and experts by surprise. It wasn’t on any maps or navigation charts.

One boater approached and took a video of the island, capturing nearly 100 trees undulating in the chop of the lake.
