Curfews are in effect in parts of Paris and other French cities as authorities try to restore order following widespread rioting this weekend. Government officials have acknowledged "failures" in their handling of the unrest and say an investigation is underway to track down those responsible. Special correspondent Ross Cullen reports from Paris.
On Sunday evening, groups of people set fires to trash bins, bicycles and other objects in the streets and looted businesses in Paris, Lyon, Marseille and other cities, a day after major violence erupted Saturday during nationwide protests against rising living costs and poor conditions in schools.
"Those who looted will have to pay back for the damage, and those who sought to bring down the Republic will be held accountable," Macron said in a televised address to the nation.
